Good idea putting this on here. It is very relevant to the web and scary thing is all the shows are loosely based on actual crimes.

I think this sort of thing is why it is important for artists to have special privacies within their own websites. Things to remember*

Always have your whois infor private and blocked from the public b/c more than likely your home address is there!

Always black out or xxxxxx out your address on your CV when posting on the internet. If it is a potential employer, they will ask you, simple.

I also think it is a good idea to have the phone number you use (if any) on the website blocked for info with the telephone company.

These are all ways people can track you down and it is easier than it seems. I have had many conversations with artists who refuse to have websites because they are afraid of personal information being public, but you can always safeguard yourself. It is more important to share your work and your ideas than be scared, just protect yourself is all.

And if you think this is crazy paranoid, it’s not. There are plenty of creeps out there and these things are real. It can happen to anyone, so be careful when planning and designing your websites!!!

I dont think people think much about things they put on facebook and such, but this world can be scary. You never know who is reading what you write and gaining information about you.
