Born in Yokohama, Japan, Izumi Tanaka was influenced by her father’s passion for capturing still images and discovered the magic of photography as a child. She has been taking pictures in one way or another ever since. While a student at UCLA, she began working in a documentary television and films. After a successful career in documentary production, she shifted her focus more to photography shooting interiors, lifestyle, and portraits appearing numerous publications include Dwell, USA Today, Los Angeles Magazine. She is also actively producing body of work in fine art/documentary photography appearing in solo and group exhibits around the country. Izumi is a charter member of Los Angeles Center of Photography, member of Professional Photographers of America, and lives in Los Angeles, California with her husband and two cats.
