Director Arturo Perez Torres’s award-winning documentary about undocumented workers chronicles the life-and-death journeys of Central American and Mexican migrants as they try to gain entry to the United States without going through proper government immigration channels. The subjects’ first-person perspective sheds light on individual motivations for the trek and the hazards encountered on their way to the American dream.

  1. I enjoyed this documentary the most of the ones we have watched thus far. Since it was told completely through the stories and interviews with actual people, without the interference of bulldog directors like Michael Moore. It made the film seem more sincere and much less militant which seems to be the trend in documentaries today.

  2. I hope that this documentary is able to raise awareness on the way American society treats other cultures. It’s obvious that there is a prejudice in this country towards Mexican/Central American people; directly before watching this film I heard someone refer to their lawn-care workers as “wetbacks”.

  3. I thought this documentary was really well done. It wasn’t overly pushy which let me draw my own conclusions. I really liked how there wasn’t a narrator telling the audience how to feel and think about migrants.

  4. I really liked this documentary, it was very informative. I have always had respect for the immigrants in our country. Yet, I never realized how much they actually go though not only in our their country but in every county they travel though just to TRY to make it to america. The film didn’t really address what they go though once the make it over the boarders and how much they are taken advantage of which disappointed me. Yet their is hope for the future. Shortly after watching the documentary I was watch a presidential debate on tv and they all seemed to agree that changes had to be made. All their ideas seemed to be good changes like the ones we talked about in class, but will those ideas be executed is the question.
